Be a HERO for Foster Youth

November 4, 2019

You were born with the ability to change someone’s life, don’t ever waste it.

Whether a child spends one day, one year, or 18 years in foster care….it is traumatic. Being separated from your family is hard no matter the situation. While we may not be able to remove the traumatic experience, I whole-heartedly believe we can improve the experience and provide support while in foster care.

And supporting a child in foster care does not mean you have to foster or adopt a child as I have. There are SO many ways, one of which is DONATION! My children have been the recipients of the gifts of donation to organizations like Together We Rise. The toys and blankets that came from the hospital or their CASA are still near and dear to their hearts and some lie with them each night to comfort them as they sleep.

All the foster children to come into my home have only arrived with the clothes on their backs and the babies came with a few other items from hospital donations. They do not come with a bag of their own clothes or their favorite stuffed animal. They leave behind ALL that they know and love to come into a stranger’s home. The gift of a bike or bag filled with items JUST for them can bring a precious smile that will bring tears to your eyes… because they may not have ever received such a gift.

Every day 1,200 children are removed from their homes and placed into the United States foster care system at no fault of their own. In the United States, there are currently over 400,000 children in the foster care system. While their time in foster care may vary, many go without significant childhood experiences.

Please JOIN me in raising funds to support Together We Rise and provide tangible resources to these youth who are often forgotten and overlooked. EVERY gift matters and no matter the size CAN change a life! Generosity is CONTAGIOUS so we hope you will donate and spread the word so we can reach our HUGE goal of raising $10,000 dollars.
